Most of our young people are funded by Adult Care Services at Suffolk County Council. If you are not sure if you can get financial help and don’t have a social worker, contact Customer First on 0808 800 4005.
Of course! Are staff are fully trained and experienced with all aspects of personal care. We have fully accessible toilets and do not charge for what we believe is an essential service. We do not currently have a hoist so wheelchair users must be able to transfer.
We are a working small holding so parts of the paddock can be muddy and bumpy! However, all parts of Fairview are accessible for walking frames, manual wheelchairs and those with limited mobility.
No! We believe very strongly, that all activities should be included within the day rate. If we go on educational trips, community outings or even just out for tea and cake, this is all covered. Drinks and snacks are also included but young people are also welcome to bring in their own. The only additional contribution we ask for is towards lunch. See ‘What’s for lunch?’
As part of our independence work we cook every day. We plan as a group what we would like to eat and then we shop and cook for it! This means we have a hot balanced lunch every day and learn some really important skills. We ask for a contribution of £3.00 for lunch. Please note this won’t be covered by Suffolk County Council so this is either invoiced separately or you can pay cash.
The team who work at Fairview are the people who make it what it is. Therefore, we take very good care of our staff and volunteers and only ever employ the very best!
All staff are DBS checked, have up to date First Aid, Manual Handling, Administering Medication and Safeguarding training. All staff complete the nationally recognised Care Certificate within their first three months unless they are already highly experienced in the care sector. We are also 5 Star rated for Environmental Health Food Hygiene, so staff have food hygiene training.
We also attend Speech and Language training workshops and hold internal training workshops regularly.
More importantly, the staff have a wealth of experience, knowledge and qualifications which ensures we are truly able to fully support all of our young people.
Of course! You will have lots and lots of questions, so please call or email to arrange a visit or free taster day.
No day is ever the same but we do have a clear structure and routine which remains the same each day.
We start with a morning cuppa and sharing circle. Everyone takes turns sharing their news. Some people need support with a talkpad or information will be in the communication book from home.
As we are adults we are encouraged to make choices, so we then plan our day, including lunch. Some people have visual timetables to help them with this.
We may then split into groups, one group may head off to buy ingredients for lunch whilst the other look after the animals.
After break we cook lunch. Again one group may do a different activity, for example check on the vegetable plot.
Lunch is always very communal. We all sit at the same table and remain together until everyone has finished. If we are able to help with washing up or clearing up we do! After we have finished eating, we have 20 minutes relaxation. However, we understand that ‘doing nothing’ is actually very difficult for lots of our young people so we provide and support with a range of activities: WII, colouring or art, hand and feet massage, hair styling, board games or magazines and books.
After lunch we will look at a wide range of activities from trips out, to environmental projects, art, geography, independence skills such as ironing, woodwork….the list goes on! Have a look at the gallery for ideas.
At the end of the day we come back to our sharing circle and share our best bits of the day or something new we have learned. We then play a signing game which helps us with both our memory and our communication.
We are not far from Whitton Sports Centre / ASDA / Junction 53 A14 but are not easy to find so you will be sent detailed directions if you contact us for a visit.
We collect and drop off young people from Anglia Retrial Park.
We are open all year round, only closing for Bank Holidays and two weeks at Christmas.
Daily pick up is at 09.30am and drop off at 3.30pm.
